Community Task Force: Recommendations
The charge of the Task Force should encompass all matters related to the mission and configuration of Lawrence elementary schools.
May 8: SONS Garage Sale
SONS is sponsoring a garage sale on May 8th from 8-2 p.m. at Building 1 at the County Fairgrounds. All proceeds will be donated to the Lawrence Schools Foundation. Donations can be dropped off on Friday May 7th at building 1 between 4:30 and 7 p.m.

Thank you to all who participated in Adequate Yearly Funding Rally on March 16th. There were well over a thousand people there.
Board Approves Plan Without Closing Schools
Scott Morgan came to the board meeting with a plan. Increase the student-teacher ratio by one, cut one elementary principal, reduce nursing staff, take $200,000 from the student materials fund and take the previous night’s cut of sixth grade music off the table. That still did not quite get us there, but with closing East Heights Child Development Center and moving the program to Kennedy it got the board close enough that they felt that they could dip into the contingency fund to make up the difference.
